My Very First Contest at LJL

Wow I'm high!! High on Photoshop Element! Lolzz!! Just a month back I did not know where to begin. The icons looks so foreign, the terminology, layers, brushes, feathers etc, etc, totally escaped me but now.... NOW!!... I'm churning out headers and the likes like magic!!

I love it... absolutely love it!! So who's interested in a new header? I can't draw like Emila can but I can do image manipulation like what I did for Farah and my own header. Oh I even made one up for Natrah, though she does not know it yet. Lolzz!!

Who wants a new header?!So I guess, this is my first contest lah... Let's make it simple, just write about this contest at your blog, link to it and tell me why you want a new header. Leave a comment here and you're done!

Contest close on 31st May and one winner will be announced by 6th June 2008.

Good Luck!!

My Fake Orchids

You know my previous post about how I have red fingers and my hubby has green fingers? Well I found another reason why I don't like gardening. Well, besides the fact that everything I grow dies, it is also because I am asthmatic. Smell is a triggering factor for me and soil smells! Fertilizers smells too! So there! Another excuse reason why I don't garden! lolzz

One more reason I can think of is, because we live in an apartment now, there is really no place to plant anything. I can just imagine my kitties playing with the soil and making a big mess of anything in pots at the balcony. What would be worse is they think that the pot are their litter bin and start doing their "business" there. Oh my, that would be a disaster!

And that is why silk plants and flowers comes in handy for us. I can have the beauty and elegance of room filled with flowers and plants without the hassle of watering them or making sure they have enough sunlight and all that jazz involved with life plants. Nowadays silk plants and flowers look so real, that no one is the wiser. Why, I even get compliments about my healthy orchids from my MIL! gelakguling

Feet, Feet, Feet

I did this test the other and found the results to be quite interesting.

What Your Feet Say About You:

You are pretty average in your expressiveness. You can express yourself well, but you don't always want to.

You are a very passionate person. You are highly charged and easily inspired.

You are an assertive person at times. You'll pull out all the stops to get what you want, if it's worth it.

You don't fall in love easily. It's hard for you to connect to people, and you don't have many attachments.

You are not afraid of anything. You are brave and courageous, even when most people would be terrified.

You are intellectual and philosophical. You are more concerned with thoughts than action.

You are very spoiled. You don't work unless you have to, and you love to be waited on.

You are not easily influenced by other people. You hold your ground and are true to your beliefs.

Well some are true and some are false but I had fun doing the test..

Oh I also wanted to show you something. It's the base of my left foot.

I had this mark or mole or whatever it is for as long as I can remember. My mom told me that it meant I was going to go places, travel and basically someone who can't sit still. I guess it makes sense. I am traveling all the time between Singapore and Malaysia and I am blog hopping as well all day to different parts of the world..Does that count as travelling?? Lol!!

What do you think it means? Anyone knows or anyone has a similar mark?

Reality Bug

I am bitten. Bitten by Reality TV bug that is. I just love watching Reality Shows. It started with game shows like Survivor and The Apprentice. Now I'm hooked to among others, Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmare and Amazing Race. Ahh! The stress level while watching these shows will go up at an all time high, I tell you.

Azwaj refused to watch with me coz he said these shows only highlight people's bad behaviour. While I totally agree, it won't stop me from watching...lolzz! The only show he does watch is American Chopper because of all the super cool bikes they built.

If you are bitten too, just like me, you might want to head on RealityBug dot com. Here you can find what's new, show updates, even casting call, in case you might want to participate yourself! There's even a message board that you can post at to "discuss" your favorite show with others fan.

Join me there ya :)

A Tip for GP

My midnight buddy, GP, is not feeling well. She has got the flu bug and is now, although recovering, still has terrible bouts of coughing and runny nose. Well I got this email just in the
NEW USE FOR VICKS VAPORUB nick of time I think and would like to share it with GP and you, my readers. I've yet to try it out but who knows, it might work to ease the coughing. Of course, lay low on the coffee as well ya!! Yes, I see that coffee mug next on your desk..lolzz!! senyumkenyit

NEW USE FOR VICKS VAPORUB

This works 100 percent of the time, although the scientists at the Canada Research Council (who discovered it) aren't sure why.

To stop night-time coughing in a child (or an adult, as we found out personally), put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime and then cover with socks.

Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about five minutes, and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. This works 100 percent of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition, it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly.

I heard the head of The Canada Research Council describe these findings by their scientists when they were investigating the effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children as compared to alternative therapies like acupressure.

I just happened to tune in to a.m. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good due to the chemical make-up of these strong drugs, so I listened. It was found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime and in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly.

My wife tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked 100 percent! She said it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her. The coughing stopped in a few minutes, and believe me, this was a deep (incredibly annoying - every few seconds!), uncontrollable cough, and she slept cough-free for hours every night she used it.

If you end up sick, try it yourself and you will be absolutely amazed at the effect.

So, try it out ya GP and let me and the rest know if it really worked.. In the meantime, take care...cium peluk

Lots of love...

Spoilers Anyone?

The internet has really spoilt me. Where before I can only read spoilers of my favorite tv series online, now it's the downloading age, where I can download tv series way before the local channel is showing it. Ah such is life. I hardly watch tv nowadays because whatever they are showing.. I've watched it already before they telecast it! lol!

Slow Motion FIFA

Have you ever played the soccer game FIFA in slow motion? Lolzz!! I have seen some kids doing that! gelakguling

That time I was sitting in for a friend at a cybercafe community center. You should see the condition these PC's were in. They were not like run-down or anything but the pc specs were pathetic. But, by the way the kids were playing the computer games though, you think they are having a most wonderful time.

Anyway, there was this group of boys around the age of eight crowding at one particular terminal and making tons of noise. Naturally this was not allowed of course. So I approached them and what I saw really made my jaw dropped and all I can say is.. I felt the utmost pity for them. The FIFA game was running in slow motion.! It must be because the pc did not even meet the basic requirements in terms of memory, processing power and even the video cards.

When I asked them if they know that the pc is running the game in slow mode, they looked blurringly at me and said it's ok.. it's easier to handle the ball! gelakguling

Oh well, as long as they are having fun right?

The Night Owl Returns

On Tuesday, Azwaj and I decided that we were going to try to live like "normal" people. Meaning, in our case to sleep during the night and stay awake during the day. So we opted to stay awake all day Tueday for over 24hrs and sleep at 11pm.

Azwaj, in keeping with the spirit slept exactly at 11pm while I had some post to finish and retired at midnight instead. Because of the long hours awake, we both fell into a deep slumber. However both of us were wide awake at 4am and both of us were feeling refreshed! It was either wake up and do something or stay in bed and do something...lol.. we decided the latter (nuff said).

We feel asleep after that and only woke up at 7am on Wednesday. We showered, bought breakfast and head on the office. And you know what?? I was like soooo sleepy at 10am which totally did not make sense.. If not for the fact I was blogging, I would definitely have fallen asleep again.

Both Azwaj and I then decided that we are truly night owls who are most efficient when the sun goes down. So here we are again, awake for over 24hrs now and intend to sleep soon to wake up at around 5pm or something...

So excuse me me while I'll be a vampire...

Scare Me Crazy!

I'm a big sucker for horror movies. Whether it's ghosts, spirits, possession or just plain horror thriller, I say bring it on! It's not like I'm a super brave girl or anything, as my hubby would definitely attest to, I'm just funny that way and I definitely enjoy all the screaming that is allowed when watching such movies. But of course, I only love watching them, from afar that is gelakguling

It's been a while though since I've watched a horror movie so when I heard about Frontier(s), I thought, Wow!, this should be a real treat. Just by looking at the poster sends chills down my spine and after heading down to the website to view the Trailer, let me say this.. I can't wait to see the movie, and I'm positive you will agree as well when you see the all the gross and gory details. If you love blood, this is the horror movie for you.

Unknown

So, if you want to join me screaming away and watching from peering fingers, check out the theater listings that can be found at frontiersunrated dot com and bear in mind you'll get to see the unrated and uncut version of this movie! Yes, you heard me.. Unrated and Uncut!

See you at Frontier(s)!

Back to School?

A few friends of mine both online and offline are going back to school nowadays. First it was GK, then Natrah and now another close friend is returning to her studies too although she's doing it slightly differently. She's doing it online! I really admire her for doing it because not only is she working, she is also a wife and a mother to two wonderful boys. Where do this people find the time??

I think it is totally a grand idea though. I mean if I can shop online and
earn online, what is wrong with studying online right? I might even consider taking the various Online Management Courses available nowadays. No doubt I won't need the certification per say coz I'm working with my hubby but it would be a nice achievement if not anything else.

So with those thoughts in mind, I let my fingers do the searching and I stumbled upon Kaplan Open Learning. The site has detailed information on all the courses the campus has to offer, entry requirements and how to apply for those courses. If that is still not enough, you an even request to download prospectus, do a virtual tour of the campus or request for a callback.

I must confess after reading "Why Study with Kaplan?", I'm pretty intrigued. Imagine, flexibility
in finishing the course you are taking. You can take from 2 years to 5 years to finish one course and as long as you have access to internet, you can study anywhere in the world! And get this, rather than exams, you have assignments! You'll get free textbooks and you'll be a graduate of University of Essex. Also the courses are economical as you can see from their "Fees and Financing" section.

Hmm... yes.. definitely intrigue
